This fantastic itinerary combines three different camps in the famous South Luangwa. A walking focused safari with two of the camps only accessible on foot and offer a fantastic bush experience. On foot, biggest herbivores become gentle giants as giraffes and elephants tower over you and buffaloes are now on eye level. The Luangwa’s predators now become the prey as you track lions prints from the night before. It is the realness of the experience, that dash of adrenaline associated with standing downwind of an elephant and catching its unmistakable scent that make walking safaris unforgettable.

  • The salt pan
  • Game drives in the game rich Nsefu sector (park on both sides of the river)
  • Great in-camp game viewing due to hides and camp waterhole
  • 4 people per vehicle (unless for groups)
  • Hotspot for leopard, lion, wild dog, elephant, giraffe, puku, hippo, crocodiles

Chikoko Trails incorporates two small and exclusive bush camps, Chikoko Tree Camp and Crocodile River Camp, from which unparalleled walking safaris are offered, strolling from camp to camp. You will then have your final night back at Tafika.

These areas offer diverse habitats: Luangwa riverside, Mutanda plains and the salt pans. The salt pan is a serval hotspot (all season) & crowned crane hotspot (from August). The game viewing is exceptional be it on an activity or relaxing in camp and watching the waterholes or in the hides.
