Galapagos Safari Camp

The Galapagos archipelago is one of very few places on the planet to be relatively untouched by man. With only 3 per cent of their landmass inhabited, the islands support a number of remarkable ecosystems, as well as being home to marine reserves. Galapagos Safari Camp provides a new way to experience the Galapagos, either in addition to a cruise or as a unique destination in itself. The eco-luxury tented camp follows the African safari tradition in which guests enjoy total comfort under canvas while experiencing nature in its purest form.

Gondwana Game Reserve

Kakuli

Kakuli, meaning old buffalo bull, was the nickname given by locals to the pioneering founder Norman Carr, who began the tradition of walking safaris here in South Luangwa National Park. The camp boasts a great base for exploring by vehicle, boat and on foot. Kakuli sees a resident lion pride, a seasonal colony of jewel-like carmine bee-eaters, and the most sightings of leopards in a single drive every year. During the lush emerald ‘Secret Season’ guests can venture out by boat to enjoy some of the best and unique opportunities for wildlife and landscape photography. All the Safari trips at Kakuli are led by award-winning guides. The camp consists of five charming and airy suites, one of the suites is suitable for a family, offering two bedrooms and bathrooms. All suites showcase beautiful, thatched rooms with rustic allure, not to mention individual private verandas featuring comfy lounge areas which overlook the awe-inspiring vistas.

Mchenja

Nestled under huge ebony trees on the banks of a broad section of the Luangwa River, Mchenja has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with magnificent, sweeping river views. The elegantly tented piece of heaven hosts a beautiful treehouse-esque lounge, built around a fallen ebony tree, creating the perfect spot to share your sunrise coffee with other guests while you enjoy birds’ songs calling across the charming Luangwa River. Guests will have the opportunity to track big cats through the bush with hushed voices and beating hearts. Night drives at Mchenja are always rewarding, with the bush revealing a different nocturnal surprise every time. At the right time of year, this is one of the best camps in the park for seeing carmine bee-eaters. Your tastebuds are just another sense fully satisfied with the camps fresh and vibrant culinary delights, from brunch in the shade of the charming lounge, to enjoying a delicious dinner served on crisp white linens by the scenic riverbank. Chisa Busanga Camp

Chisa Busanga Camp lies within the northern part of Kafue National Park, where travellers can view the sweeping grasslands and wetlands of the Busanga Plains. The camp consists of four ‘nests’, woven elevated structures that mimic the nests of the weaver bird, often seen in trees in the surrounding area. The nests are built on legs, allowing stunning views of the plains and passing herds of wildlife, with lantern-lit stairs leading up to them (one of the nests also has a lift). Inside, the nests are fitted with wooden decks, with canvas to keep guests comfortable no matter the weather, and Chisa Busanga Camp is fully powered by solar, as are the camp’s safari vehicles which make no noise while exploring the wilderness of the Kafue National Park, preventing wildlife from being startled while also keeping carbon emissions to a minimum.

Mandrare River Camp

Mandrare River Camp rests in the south of Madagascar, nestled amongst the spiny forests held sacred by the Antandroy Tribe. The camp overlooks a beautiful and diverse landscape, carved through by the Mandrare River. Due to the lack of predator species in this part of the world, guests can enjoy incredible wildlife viewing and birdwatching, and get up close to the wildlife of the forest such as Madagascar’s famous ring-tailed lemurs. Mandrare River Camp features seven spacious tented suites with en-suite facilities and a large outdoor terrace for admiring the sweeping views in a tranquil and secluded setting.

Shawa Luangwa Camp

Shawa Luangwa Camp rests on the eastern bank of the Luangwa River, overlooking the sweeping landscape of the South Luangwa National Park. Here, guests can cross the tranquil river waters on a boat or pontoon, explore the wilderness on exciting game drives and immerse themselves in the beauty of the pristine natural sanctuary. This seasonal camp was inspired by Jacob Shawa, an incredible guide who grew up in the Luangwa Valley and shares a passion for the wildlife and scenery that exists here.
Open from April 15th until November 15th, Shawa Luangwa consists of five luxurious tented rooms with twin and double beds, and two of the tents can be converted into a spacious family suite. Guests can take advantage of the different morning and evening activities and spend the time in between relaxing in the soothing plunge pool, or listening to the gentle melodies of South Luangwa’s many different bird species.

Take a step away from busy city life and retreat to Lake Chahafi Resort. Surrounded by emerald forests, stretches of grassland, and – of course – the sparkling Lake Chahafi, guests can spend their time here reconnecting to nature and enjoying a taste of slow living. Suspend what you know about luxury tented camps. The latest addition to the Thornybush Collection, Saseka Tented Camp, is state-of-the-art, luxurious and imbued with idyllic African wilderness. Saseka is the Tsonga word for Beautiful. Set in the north-eastern portion of the big-5 game rich Thornybush Nature Reserve, situated in the greater Kruger National Park. Saseka, elegantly positioned on the banks of the Monwana dry-riverbed, which sweeps through the reserve, with a distinct curve in the river being a natural catalyst for the site of the main area.
