The River Club

The River Club is defined by the value we attach to lasting memories, genuine hospitality, the historical preservation of Livingstone, Zambia, and our commitment to our local community. We offer a truly authentic local experience within the context of Livingstone and the natural heritage of the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls with an unrivalled presence. Our mission is achieved when engaging service, synergy with our community and attention to detail elevate each stay – turning moments into memories for our guests. Eleven spacious, private suites are individually set within the tree line along the edge of the magnificent Zambezi River. From their elevated positions, the suites are perfectly situated to gaze across the river to the Zambezi National Park on the opposite bank, home to an array of wildlife and birds in an area of abundant natural beauty.

The Royal Livingstone

The Royal Livingstone Hotel is located on the banks of the Zambezi River, a stone’s throw away from the thundering waters of Victoria Falls, in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. Named after the famous explorer David Livingstone, the hotel recalls the style of his era as well as his name, with luxurious and classy rooms decorated in a Victorian style with a modern touch. All rooms and suites come with butler service for a comfortable stay where all your needs will be met! It’s prime location by Victoria Falls offers fun and adventurous activities, from touring the falls, swimming in cooling pools at the bottom, and soaring in the air high above to visiting the Devil’s Pool, a unique rockpool at the very edge of the waterfall. As well as adventuring, the hotel is perfect for relaxing, with a spa offering countless treatments and stress relieving massages, as well as a refreshing swimming pool. At the end of the day enjoy a drink in the Travellers Bar before dining in one of the many restaurants, by the Boma or in the privacy of your own room.

Waterberry Zambezi Lodge

Waterberry Zambezi Lodge, on the banks of the Zambezi, is 30 minutes from Livingstone and 40 minutes from Victoria Falls. A small, friendly and informal lodge, it’s the perfect setting for visiting the amazing Falls and enjoying all the activities around Livingstone. The lodge has seven thatched cottages set in beautiful gardens around the central restaurant, viewing lounge and deck. All rooms are en suite, with air conditioning, ceiling fans, mosquito nets and private terraces. Waterberry is within easy reach of Livingstone and the Falls, but well away from the general buzz of the busy town. Guests usually spend a day around the Falls and the town and the next at the lodge, enjoying all that Waterberry has to offer – river activities and amazing birding with top class guides. A highlight is the visit to a completely uncommercial local village where many staff live and where Waterberry has built and manages local pre and primary schools.

Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge

Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge lies on the edge of the Gonarexhou National Park, surrounding by lush vegetation and towering trees and overlooking the tranquil waters of the Save River. From the comfort of the lodge’s spacious patio, guests will be able to spot lounging hippos, basking crocodiles and herds of elephants as they rest on the riverbanks. The lodge is light and airy, with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Guests can enjoy the natural beauty of the area while escaping to the cooling shade and interacting with fellow travellers. Chilo Gorge also features luxuries such as a refreshing swimming pool, library, lounge, dining room and bar, which all offer views of the lodge’s manicured gardens. Enjoy a relaxing stay in a comfortable setting that incorporates tradition with modern design, located in heart of the African wilderness.

Amanzi Camp

Located on the riverbanks of the Zambezi River, in the diverse wilderness of the Lower Zambezi National Park lies Amanzi Camp. This camp is exclusive and private, nestled in amongst trees, allowing guests an authentic, private, and unique stay in the heart of nature. With only 4 traditional safari tents, guests can enjoy the peace and quiet with only bird song and sounds of flowing water filling the air. A unique verandah at the end of the tents offers the perfect space to unwind and relax in hanging chairs, gazing out over the vast Zambezi. A comfortable main area is where dinner is served, and guests can grab a drink from the bar and watch as the sun sets, gazing through the open sides, over the stunning vista. Connection and immersion within nature is a key theme of the activities on offer, from game drives and walking safaris to canoeing along the gentle waters of the river; each activity will place you in the centre of nature.

Baines’ River Camp

Located on the banks of the sparkling Zambezi River is the exclusive Baines’ River Camp. Nestled in among Jackalberry and Tamarind trees, the camp is immersed in nature and surrounded by the wilds of Zambia. The suites here are luxurious and comfortable, with spacious open plan rooms and private verandahs with comfortable sofas which offer a view of the river. Wandering animals may meander past your suite, your dinner table or while you’re relaxing in the pool, reminding guests of the spectacular nature of this corner of Zambia. Enjoy meals around a crackling boma, or in a unique location in the bush or dine in the privacy of your room. Guests have a choice of ways to adventure and relax whilst here, from game drives through the bush to an enjoyable game of boules on the sandy banks of the river. At the end of the day grab a drink from the bar and unwind on the sofas in the lounge area, recalling memories from your day.

Anabezi Camp

Anabezi Camp is located on the banks of the sparkling Zambezi River, in the wilds of the Lower Zambezi National Park. The local environment is protected by the design of the camp, all tents are built on stilts to maintain the ecosystems of the land. Guests can stay in one of 12 modern and spacious tents, sophisticatedly decorated with modern furniture and comfortable touches, such as cosy sofas and soft cushions. Spend the afternoon in the glistening swimming pool with a view, so no meandering animals are missed. Or adventure around the park on a game drive or walking safari, both excellent ways to immerse yourself in nature. Glide peacefully along the river at sunset in a boat or canoe, keeping an eye on the river banks for any wading birds or thirsty animals. In the evenings enjoy dining under the wide sky on a deck which overlooks the river, and enjoy a drink around the fire pit, sharing stories from your day with your fellow guests.

Chiawa Camp

Located on the banks of the Zambezi River, in the diverse Lower Zambezi National Park is Chiawa Camp. On offer is a traditional and authentic safari experience with unique and luxury touches throughout your stay. The suites at this camp are comfortable and homely, but with wide floor to ceiling windows and doors, you won’t forget the stunning beauty which surrounds you. Outside every safari tent is a stone lounge/plunge pool area – and a large sparkling pool sits outside the safari suite – which are perfect for cooling down during hot afternoons. A carbon neutral certified camp, walking safaris and canoeing trips are available to guests, to explore the national park whilst connecting to nature. Game drives are also offered, with their carbon emissions offset by the purchase of special carbon credits. The food served at Chiawa camp is fresh and delicious, served in the bush under the wide starry skies, surrounded by the wild nature of this beautiful corner of Zambia.

Kayila Camp

Our newly opened camp in the vast 8,000 acre private conservancy of the game management area outside Lower Zambezi National Park is the perfect first stop of the exceptional Zambezi Experience. With outstanding views of the majestically towering escarpment and the tranquil river below and across to the stunning vista of Mana Pools, Kayila has it all: beautiful game in private luxury. Led by experienced and passionate guides, guests can enjoy walks through the property from “River to Ridge” or sleep out under the stars above a watering hole to fully experience the nocturnal magic of Kayila. In addition to the safari and wildlife activities, guests have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture of the surrounding communities and people. Your stay at Kayila links up with Anabezi and Amanzi camps, with a boat trip down river, stopping for an island lunch and followed by an optional canoe trip for the last few kilometres to encounter the Zambezi at its best.

Old Mondoro Camp

Old Mondoro is set in a grove of Acacia trees that tower above the massive elephant bulls that seem to be constantly feeding on them. On the banks of the Zambezi River in the Lower Zambezi National Park some 35 km downstream from Chiawa Camp this is a beautiful and remote site overlooking a maze of hippo-inhabited islands and channels. With only 5 rooms, 10 beds, Old Mondoro is the Lower Zambezi’s most intimate and private safari camp. Old Mondoro’s setting is exquisite, one of the few safari camps with views in all directions, from one’s chair – to the south the spectacular Zambezi river and its islands sprinkled with wildlife, swivel around to face north and see beautiful woodland full of towering trees dwarfing the impalas, waterbuck, buffalo and elephants. A fun addition is Old Mondoro’s outdoor “loo with a view” overlooking the Zambezi and its wildlife.
