The Westin Punta Cana Resort & Club proudly takes part in the Pack for a Purpose campaign, an initiative encouraging travellers to think about, and leave a positive lasting impact on the destination they travel to. The idea is to save a little space in your suitcase and bring some supplies that local schools or medical clinics are lacking. The resort provides a list of the things most needed at the moment so you can be sure to aid the community you visit in the best way.
In 1994, The Westin Punta Cana joined in the efforts of the Punta Cana Ecological Foundation, with its aim of protecting and preserving the local environment. A non-profit organisation, the foundation seeks to better the ecological health of the surrounding wildlife, as well as both land and marine habitats. Alongside this work they also promote many social initiatives within the community, working with schools to better education people about the climate crisis and how we can help.
The resort has evolved to promote a zero waste policy, and is constantly striving to eliminate single-use and unnecessary plastics. Alongside this, they have created a worm composting operation to break down all organic waste from the resort’s kitchens and gardens, and the product is used at the Punta Cana Foundation Vegetable Nursery!
The Westin Punta Cana is family friendly, with a whole host of children’s activities that the little ones can get stuck into, including a children’s play area and kid’s club. Connecting rooms and babysitting is also available on request.
