The Chenxiangge Monastery is a tranquil refuge that shelters a community of dark-brown-clothed monks from the Chenhai, the mortal world to Buddhists. At the rear of the temple you will find the Guanyin Tower which will guide you upstairs to an effigy of the male-looking goddess Guanyin in a gilded cabinet: this version of the effigy is a modern copy as the original disappeared during the Cultural Revolution. At the front of the monastery is the Hall of Heavenly Kings, enveloping four gilded Heavenly Kings and a form of Maitreya. People come here to pray and chant hymns that fill the hall where there is a statue of Sakyamuni, flanked by two rows of nine luohan.
