Miss Lily’s restaurant offers guests the chance to try traditional Jamaican home cooking, with different menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant features a jerk house and barbeque grilling station where guests can watch their meal being prepared. Vegetarian menus are also available. Guests can enjoy a short boat trip out to the reef for swimming and snorkelling. Explore the colourful coral heads that spread out across the ocean floor and view the scores of dwarf tube sponges and the vibrant fish that have made this incredible setting their home.

A number of popular snorkelling sites in the local area include Negril Reef where guests will be able to find jellyfish in the shallow waters, Pristine Cove which is home to abundant fish life, Half Moon Beach which is a more secluded beach, Booby Cay Island which is inhabited by a large number of booby birds, and The Cave Beneath the Caves where guests can explore a number of underwater caves and coves.

Travel to the Blue Hole Spring where you can jump down 22 feet into a pool of clear water. There is also a ladder that leads guests in and out of the deep waterhole. Guests can also swim in the adjacent ground-level pool which also contains the same mineral water that is found in the spring. Enjoy this relaxing experience, just a half-hour journey from the resort.

The Black River Safari allows guests to travel across the Great Morass, a 125 square mile wetland which is home to an incredible variety of wildlife. View endangered American crocodiles, whistling ducks and cinnamon jacanas as your local guide teaches you about this amazing environment and the creatures that live within it. Look out for 100 species of bird and local fishermen who catch crabs on traditional canoes, while you meander between tropical plants and mangrove trees.

Take a tour around the Appleton Estate which has been making rum for over 265 years. Guests will be able to learn about the history of rum before watching a demonstration of how rum is made. After this, you will visit the Appleton distillery to watch the rum as it is processed on a large scale. Finish off this educational activity by taking a rum tasting session. Try a variety of samples and enjoy a selection of Appleton Rum cocktails.

Take your children to Kool Runnings Water Park and enjoy a fun day in the cooling water. The park features a number of water slides and lazy rivers, and guests can also participate in exciting activities such as paint balling and go-karting. There is an area specifically designed for younger children with gentle pools and more appropriate slides.

Older guests can enjoy the 40-foot drop from the Duppy Conqueror, bamboo rafting and the human gyroscope which simulates the sensation astronauts experience when being launched into space. Guests are advised to bring their own towels as they are not provided by the water park.

Enjoy swimming and relaxing in the YS Falls and their surrounding natural pools. An on-site lifeguard will be on hand to ensure that guests are safe at all times. After swimming, guests can relax in the peaceful gardens and enjoy a picnic at the tables, surrounded by tropical plants and greenery. Guests can also embark on the canopy tour, and travel over the falls via zipline. Fly 40 feet above the falls and treetops as you take in the stunning scenery from a completely unique perspective.

Sail across the ocean as the sinking sun transforms the scenery into a colourful haven. Guests can enjoy beverages and meals on the sunset cruise and enjoy a romantic dinner under an orange sky. The cruise ships are small and offer an exclusive and personal experience.

Skylark Negril supports the Rockhouse Foundation, an initiative that transforms schools into nurturing environments and offers aid to teachers. The Rockhouse Foundation has built Jamaica’s first public school that supports mixed abilities and full inclusion.

This means that children with special needs will be taught alongside everyone else and receive the same opportunities rather than being separated. There are also plans to expand the school to cater for those entering secondary education. Guests are able to visit the school and volunteer to help out.

Skylark Negril follows a number of practices that are focused on helping to reduce their impact on the environment. This includes collecting rainwater to reuse it, recycling and composting, and minimising their use of natural resources and hazardous materials. Skylark Negril also use solar water heaters which can provide hot water for showers without generating carbon emissions, and low voltage lighting to reduce their energy consumption. Skylark Negril continue to monitor their environmental performance so that they can find new ways to improve their efficiency and reduce the impact they have on the environment.
