Also, all the proceeds made from the vending machines at the hotel are donated to the Paralym Art organisation. The Park Hotel Tokyo endeavours to use Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade certified products, where possible. They actively select coffee beans that are certified by these organisations, and through this, they support the aims of these not-for-profits in ensuring sustainable living in developing countries.
In order to reduce the impact of the Park Hotel Tokyo on the environment, they have implemented a number of practices in order to combat global warming. One such measure involves the reduction of plastic products that are used within the hotel. All plastic cups have been replaced a bamboo alternative, which is bio-degradable and therefore greatly reduces the impact of the hotel’s operations on the environment. Also, the Park Hotel Tokyo have eradicated the use of all plastic straws from their restaurant and bar, instead using paper straws. Furthermore, the Park Hotel is promoting the use of LED lighting, which has a lesser impact on the environment than normal light options. Currently, 80% of the building’s lighting is using LED bulbs, and the Park Hotel is aiming for all lights to be powered by LED bulbs.
