Madagascar is a mountainous island located in the Indian Ocean south of the equator. The Mozambique channel separates it from the East-African coast. The Tropic of Capricorn dissects southern Madagascar from Vangaindrano in the east to Tulear in the west.

Each of the scenic bungalows offers all the comforts necessary for your wellbeing. In addition to the beach, the garden is another place to relax amidst the unique call of Malagasy birds so you have both the relaxing tropical ocean and flourishing fauna just a few steps from your door.

The best time to visit Ifaty in Madagascar is recommended to be from January until December, when you will have pleasant and hot temperatures and limited to little rainfall. The highest average temperature in Ifaty is 32°C in January and the lowest is 26°C in July with the water temperature between 21°C and 30°C.

Bungalows

Each Bungalow at the Hotel de la Plage offers all the necessary comforts such as ventilated rooms with air conditioning as well as fans in the rooms and private bathrooms with hot water.

The cabana-style bungalows, situated right next to the sea on a calm, crescent bay are extremely spacious and comfortable and are always kept in pristine condition. The huts are equipped with mosquito nets, and there is a constant supply of hot water.

The Restaurant, covering 260 m² is perched on top of a dune. From here, you have a most beautiful panoramic view of the barrier reef. Offers range from French cuisine to Malagasy specialities. From the highly rated grilled zebu to fresh offerings from the sea, prepared in the traditional ways enhanced with local flavours.

At the bar you can appreciate the tropical heat sipping on a cocktail which will be served by the attentive staff. The terrace also allows you to take advantage of the cool sea breeze, while admiring the magnificent view over the lagoon or to enjoy an ocean sunset.

The Hotel de la Plage offers activities to suit every taste such as: deep sea fishing, scuba diving, sea kayaking, sailing in a traditional canôe, windsurfing and zebu cart rides.

Whale Watching

Observe these marine mammals in their natural birthing habitat, imposing yet graceful and powerful, yet gentle. From June to September, the humpback whales of the Antarctic come to enjoy the warm seas of the Indian Ocean to calve. The calves gain up to 50 kilograms in weight per day during the first months of their lives.

 

Scuba Diving

Whether you are Scuba diving or snorkelling, you will discover a wealth of marine life in one of the biggest coral reefs in the world. The Hotel de la Plage has their own Diving Club, under the watchful eye of Yannick, a qualified PADI instructor.

Quad Biking and Hiking

Polaris 330 quads, the ideal mode of transport to go to Tuléar or to visit the many nearby villages. Various guided routes are available for exploring this picturesque region. Guided tours of the famous Malagasy Baobab trees, white sand dunes, unusual encounters with villagers in Bus, and a variety of scenes await you.

The hotel uses solar power for its electricity such as lights and wifi in order to minimise their carbon footprint. All food is locally grown and sourced as well to support the community and minimise transport.
