Hosteria El Puma, Leonel Terray, El Chaltén, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina

El Puma is located in the quiet town of El Chaltén, in the heart of Los Glaciares National Park. The river of Las Vueltas flows past El Chaltén and the town is surrounded by rocky mountains, jagged peaks, and crystal clear glacial lakes, with a wealth of diverse and breathtaking wildlife waiting to be explored. Los Glaciares National Park became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981, and has enjoyed protected status since then becoming a haven for the animals it is home to, such as chinchillas, guanacos, guemals, pudus, condors, and rheas.

The Santa Cruz Province is within Patagonia and encompasses areas of forests, sweeping grasslands, towering glaciers and many azure glacial lakes. Hiking around this area offers some truly rewarding views, and you may spot any number of ducks, finches, or if you’re lucky – a buzzard eagle soaring above – on your journey.
