Capella Shanghai Jian Ye Li

With only a few of the original shikumen lanes remaining, Capella Shanghai is proud to protect and evolve the city’s cultural legacy. The design concept was created by Jaya Design International that embodies the spirit of Jian Ye Li.

Capella Shanghai Jian Ye Li is situated in the cultural preservation zone of the Xuhui District, conveniently just 0.6 km from the nearest subway station at Zhaojiabang on Lines 7 and 9. The hotel is located in the cultural preservation zone, situated near an abundant of attractions open to the public to explore and discover; some of these include Yu Garden, Super brand Shopping Mall Shangahi, Jin Mao Tower, Shanghai International Tennis Centre, and much more.

Sensitively restored lanes feature distinctive Western and Chinese design elements that define the shikumen architectural style. Chinese matou, or ‘horse head’ gables adorn these three-story brick and stone-accented townhouses while the interiors were conceived by the renowned Jaya Ibrahim. The bespoke interior design is a careful blend of classic Chinese elements and 19th-century French flair. Accommodation consists of spacious units with a private courtyard, living area, entertainment room with 51-inch flat-screen televisions, and a rooftop balcony that allows guests to see the sun setting over the traditional roof eaves of Shanghai’s heritage buildings.

Le Comptoir De Pierre Gagnaire

Dine at this famed French restaurant to experience the renowned chef Pierre Gagnaire’s culinary legacy who focuses on quality and local ingredients in the menu; the menu is a reinterpretation of traditional French cooking with the interiors based on a Parisian salon, inspired by the old-world glamour of Shanghai during the 1930s. Jing'an Temple

Explore one of the most famous temples in Shanghai and the three main halls that it contains: the Mahavira Hall, the Hall of Heavenly Kings and the Three Sage Hall. Observe the paintings and calligraphy by Yangzhou’s Eight Eccentric Painters in the Exhibition Hall of Buddhis Relics or the bronze bell made in the Ming Dynasy, an important display of the temple. Visit during the Temple Fair held at the temple once a year, lasting for three days which has become a tradition where people from around the world come to worship during the fair.

Tian Zi Fang

Explore this labyrinth of traditional Shanghai alleyways that is full of trinket shops, bars, restaurants and art galleries open to the public. Start your exploration on Taikang Road on gate number one to see the abandoned factory buildings that have been converted into art studios by the contemporary artist, Chen Yifei. Venture deeper into the heart of Tian Zi Fang to observe the distinctive shikumen buildings that house shops, bars and restaurants.

Oriental Pearl Tower

The Oriental Pearl Tower is the world’s sixth and China’s second tallest TV and radio tower. Visitors can travel up and down the tower, holding up to 50 people at a rate of seven metres per second as it takes you to your destination where there are a variety of activities to enjoy. The larger lower sphere of the tower has a futuristic space city from which you can see the Yangtze River and contains a dance hall, karaoke bar and an observation deck; the five smaller spheres make up the hotels, and the sphere at the top contains shops, restaurants which includes a rotating restaurant, and a sightseeing floor.
