Historical Preservation

When the hotel was under construction many of the historic features proudly on show today were under cover. For example, the 450-year old columns that shape the hotel’s Castil Restaurant were carefully unearthed and have been preserved to maintain the historical and cultural significance of the building, located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Colonial City. This is vitally important, as the building has a rich and varied history that must not be erased. The building was first built in the 16th Century serving as the house for the Regina Angelorum Convent, to later become the site of the historic San Luis Gonzaga School. Preservation of this Dominican history and culture stands proudly alongside the hotel’s commitment to luxury and tranquillity.
