Guests can take a trip to the Monkey Forest, the sanctuary and habitat of the Balinese long-tailed macaque and around 1049 of this species of monkey lives within the forest. The mission of the Monkey Forest is to conserve the area on the concept of Tri Hita Karana meaning “three ways to reach spiritual and physical well-being”. These three ways involve relationships between humans and human, humans and their environment, and humans with The Supreme God. Although the forest is a tourist attraction, it is also an important place for research and conservation programmes to encourage researchers to conduct research on the monkey’s social interaction and behaviour with their surrounding environment.
