Mandarin Grill + Bar

For those looking for a more traditional approach to dishes, Mandarin Bar + Grill is the perfect place for that. This restaurant is the only Beijing luxury-hotel grill that offers guests the opportunity to dine with garden-terrace views of the Forbidden City. Guests can enjoy their food with magnificent views of the city whilst indulging on dishes such as grilled Baby Australian Rock Lobster, prime steaks, seafood, and much more. There is also the option to dine in the Wangfu Room which seats up to 12 people and is an option for those wanting a more discreet option for private parties or business discussions.

Café Zi

Temple of Heaven

Covering a total area of 270 hectares, the Temple of Heaven Park is open to the public so visitors can explore the culture and history within. Visitors can observe the circular Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests in the north of the park, the Imperial Vault of Heaven and Circular Mound Altar in the south of the park and these areas a connected by a walkway called Danbi Qiao. Take part in a tour that starts at the South Gate and takes you along a north route of the park passing the Mound Altar, Echo Wall, the Imperial Vault of Heaven, Red Throne Steps Bridge, the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, and ends at the North Gate.

Beijing Wangfujing Street is one of the symbols of Beijing’s commerce and is the most well-known shopping street with modern and fashion trends. It is the busiest street in Beijing with a wide variety of shops and boutiques, some of which are world-famous brands. There is also an abundant of time honoured stores with traditional commodities that have been in the streets for hundreds of years. Beijing Summer Palace

The Beijing Summer Palace is one of the best preserved imperial garden in the world and also one of the largest of its kind still in existence in China. Listed as World Heritage in 1998, the Summer Palace harmonises plants, paths, water, land, architecture and horticulture which all played a key role in the development of cultural form throughout the East. There are many popular sites for visitors to explore within the grounds of the palace which includes Kunming Lake, The Long Corridor, Longevity Hill, the Marble Boat, and the Garden of Virtue and Harmony. Visitors can also take a boat ride to see an island temple, watch a traditional Chinese performance in a restored theatre, and explore the traditional shops along the river.

There is also a hiring programme in place to provide employment opportunities to people with physical and mental challenges which provides financial benefits and specialised training experience that is needed to foster professional independence.

Buying Local

The hotel takes pride in their efforts to buy local products which reduced their carbon footprint whilst also contributing to the local economic growth in the local communities. The purchasing teams under their employment research local markets and providers in order to grow the overall percentage of local purchases. The hotel are currently partnered with local companies for different types of products they purchase which includes seafood, poultry, milk and dairy products, fruits and beverages.

Eliminating Single-Use Plastic

The hotel has introduced Nordaq which is Sweden’s leading freshwater filtration system and this helps to reduce the need for single-use plastic bottles whilst also reducing the carbon emissions produced from the transportation of these bottles. Since the first day of the hotel operation, paper and recyclable straws, and food packing boxes have been used within the hotel to reduce the negative impacts on the environment.

Waste Management

The hotel has assigned classified garbage bins throughout the hotel and in the guest rooms which include bins for recycling, food waste, hazardous waste and other types of waste. They also educate each of the employees working within the hotel about their certain role as this allows them to support the overall mission of reducing waste, recycling, reuse and reducing for a better planet.

Energy Saving

Four key measures have been put into place by the hotel to save energy which include: solar panels installed, lightbulbs are replaced with LED lighting, light sensors have been installed in corridors, elevators and other public areas in order to adjust lighting only when it is used, and water is recycled to be used for toilet flushing and irrigation.
