The rooms are cosy and earthy and all come with ensuite bathrooms.

Guests can spend their days trekking around the area, summiting local mountains and immersing themselves in the local fauna and flora. Eco-tours are available for guests to learn about the conservation efforts in the area, and guests can finish their days with a short walk to the star observatory where they can get lost in the millions of stars visible in the night sky.

Located in the Parque Patagonia, La Posta de Los Toldos is surrounded by breathtaking and magical landscapes. Created to protect various species inside the borders, such as the hooded grebe, the park is constantly expanding and working to protect more species as well as the cultural protection of ancient petroglyphs which were made by the ancestral people of guanaco hunters.

The park includes a variety of topographies making it the perfect haven for a variety of wildlife. Winding streams, rugged mountains, areas of luscious grassland, arid shrub-land, and stretches of vast plains are home to animals such as guanacos, pumas, rehab, chinchillas, and red and grey foxes – as well as many more.

The closest airport in Argentina for guests to fly to is the Commodore Rivadavia. After flying here La Posta de Los Toldos is a 5-hour and 30-minute drive away.

The weather is unpredictable throughout the year in Patagonia however November to March is usually agreed to be one of the best times to travel to this area, as the days tend to be warmer and longer. There are fewer crowds in November and December so these are good months to travel if you wish to avoid the crowds. It can be quite windy throughout the year so warm layers are recommended, and stable walking shoes are highly recommended. Parque Patagonia may be chillier than the coastal areas of Patagonia, so it is advised for you to check local weather forecasts before you travel.

The rooms at La Posta de Los Toldos are spacious and cosy, with natural wooden furniture and earthy tones creating a down-to-earth atmosphere. Bright light fills the room through a wide window and a double bed sits in the centre of the room, covered in crisp bed linens and plush cushions. A dining table is available for guests who wish to dine in their room, and all the rooms come with a private bathroom. Different layouts are available, twin, triple, and bunked rooms can be chosen by guests.

Guests can head to the communal dining area for mealtimes where food is served fresh, with local produce and dishes inspired by traditional Argentinian flavours.

Hiking

With over 16 kilometres of trails around La Posta de Los Toldos, guests can spend their days exploring their breathtaking surroundings, immersing themselves in nature, learning about the history of this area, and finding ancient rock paintings. There are treks nearby which are free to the public, including the Land of Colours trek, The Guanaca trek; where hikers will ascend Cerro Amarillo and be rewarded with panoramic views of rugged mountains and jagged rock formations.

Koi trek is also amiable to the public and includes summiting the Sumich Plateau, where guests will be rewarded with sweeping views of the arid landscape all the way to the endless horizons. The Descent the Awnings trek is available for hikers of a high fitness level, as it is a challenging trail.

Star Observatory

After a 10-minute walk guests of La Posta de Los Todos can find themselves at the unique star observatory. In this area of Argentina, there is little to no light pollution, meaning breathtaking constellations can even be seen with the naked eye, and can be viewed through the telescope as a crystal clear image. Once the sun has set, the night sky becomes filled with a million stars.

La Posta de Los Toldos offers eco-tours as part of their effort to maintain a sustainable and eco-friendly hotel, and bring awareness of these issues to their guests. ‘Rewilding Argentina’ is constantly working to rewind the surrounding area, and return it to the natural haven it once was.
