Enasoit Camp

Enasoit is situated in the foothills of Mount Kenya, located in the Laikipia region. The camp is intimate and private, when guests book they are also booking exclusive use of 4000 acres of Kenyan wilderness. Only one group of guests can book at a time, making this the perfect place for a large family or group of friends. The camp is relaxed and welcoming, with friendly, attentive staff ready to make your safari experience unique. The main mess tent sits alongside a waterhole, where guests can watch some of the amazing animals local to this area – giraffe, elephant and hippo – gather for a cooling drink on a hot day.

Enasoit Tented Camp, Laikipia, Kenya

Set in the foothills of Mount Kenya, the landscapes around Enasoit are diverse and home to rich, varied ecosystems. Situated within a natural wildlife corridor, the vast and pristine wilderness encompasses rolling hills, arid plains and dotted forests. Endangered species often cross this land, including the black rhino – of which almost half of Kenyas black rhino population can be found here. There is an abundance of giraffe and elephant and you may spot the occasional hippo too.

Seasons in the Laikipia area consist of two dry seasons and two rainy seasons. The first, hotter dry season occurs from December to March, this is when skies are clear and the temperatures are at their hottest, luring animals to the watering hole for a refreshing drink. The longer rains occur in April, May and early June, which are followed by the second – cooler – dry season. Skies are cloudless and a warm jacket for the mornings and evenings are advised.

Short rains fall in November setting the scene for some spectacular sunsets. 8 tents are comfortable and traditional and each have their own decking where guests can relax and watch the sunset over the hills. Guests can explore the area on a game drive, bush walk or on horse – all exciting and unique ways to explore the ever changing landscapes.

Tented Cottages

Situated around the waterhole the tents are built using natural and local materials. Wooden floors, furniture and bed frames add to the authenticity of the rooms and natural light fills the room through wide windows keeping the space bright. Each room comes with an ensuite bathroom. A natural colour palette flows throughout the room and living area – complete with armchairs and a fireplace – giving the feeling of the outside coming in, and a private decking area with comfortable seats for guests to wind down and keep a watch for animals coming to or going from the waterhole.

Family Tented Cottage

Perfect for families, this tented cottage has two large inter-leading bedrooms, each with their own ensuite bathroom and a spacious and cosy living area in the centre of the tent where the whole family can relax. Natural tones and a muted colour palette flow throughout the tent creating authenticity and inspired by the natural landscapes surrounding the camp. A private decking area is the best place to spend some time winding down and watching the breathtaking sunsets over the rolling hills.

Pool House

Set slightly away from the main camp, the Pool House is nestled next to a dramatic rock outcrop. Set within an aloe garden the theme of rest and relaxation continues and guests will feel at peace here. Two thatched double cottages are located in the Pool house gardens, with comfortable beds and wide windows filling the space with natural light, these are the perfect rooms for larger groups.

Dinner under the stars

Dinner can be served in the dining tent, tables softly lit by candlelight are the perfect choice for when the weather may be chillier, but with open sides guests won’t miss and passing wildlife or the stunning views whilst tucking into some delicious and fresh food. If the weather is warm then dinner is served outside so guests can enjoy dining under a blanket of stars and placing themselves in the heart of Kenya.

Sundowners

Guests can partake in a traditional sundowner, raising a toast to the African wilderness and the long-lasting memories you will take home with you.

Bush picnic

There is no better way to place yourself in the heart of the Kenyan wildlife than with a bush picnic. Immerse yourself in the sights, smells and sounds of the surrounding bush and enjoy fresh food on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Guided Game Drives

Guests have the opportunity to see the wildlife surrounding the area in a comfortable, open sided game drive vehicle. Guests can choose either morning, afternoon, nighttime or all-day drives, the beauty of the changing surroundings allowing for unique sightings each time. Guests can explore Laikipia and the surrounding area, which boasts a variety of habitats and African wildlife ready to be seen, including elephant, lion, giraffe and African wild dogs.

Guided Bush Walks

Guests have the opportunity to explore the conservatory on foot with an experienced guide. These excursions offer a more intimate way to explore, and guests can appreciate the smaller things such as animal tracks and prints and micro-ecosystems. The guide will be able to enlighten you on traditional uses of fauna and flora in medicine and will be able to point out signs of recent activity. Guests of Enasoit also have the opportunity to track resident lions, explore ancient rock art or with an abundance of bird species, bird watching is a fun family activity.

Horse Riding

Horse riding is available at Enasoit, so guests can saddle up and explore the Laikipia area on horseback. This is a traditional way to safari in Kenya and allows guests to become a part of the wilderness.

Massage and spa treatments

For guests who want to relax and de-stress, spa treatments are available and guests can indulge in a massage.

Games Area

For some family fun, guests can spend an afternoon in the games area. Try your hand at a game of boules or croquet, or enjoy a game of ping pong or volleyball.

Conservation

Enasoit itself is a wildlife corridor within the Laikipia highlands in Kenya, and to help preserve and support the management of this area all proceeds from guests staying at Enasoit Camp go straight back into the land. Over the 9,500 km² key wilderness area of the Laikipia highlands, the density and biodiversity of species is the second highest in Kenya, after the Maasai Mara. Enasoit helps to support the conservation work which is being done in this area, including the preservation of various endangered species. Enasoit understands the importance of the area in which they operate and by “safe-guarding” this area in Laikipia they “ensure space for wildlife to roam and thrive.”
