After travelling a short distance from town to the stunning Kuang Si Waterfalls, bathe beneath the flowing water, as it cascades over a series of calcified tiers and down several metres into the refreshing turquoise pools below. Following your swim, visit the Sun Bear Reserve, a conservation centre that rescues the endangered sun bears that are native to Southeast Asia from the devastating wildlife trade.

Amidst lush rice fields and verdant hills, be welcomed by your friendly hosts. Start the experience with a hands-on bamboo weaving workshop; create a personal souvenir utilising this traditional method that has been passed down for generations. Understand the importance of the bamboo in Laos culture, before participating in an interactive cooking class, preparing tasty dishes with the multifaceted plant. After breakfast at your hotel, a guide and driver will pick you up at the lobby and transfer to airport for your flight to Vientiane. Upon arrival at Vientiane airport, you will be transferred to your hotel by another guide. Spend the rest of the day at your own leisure, getting a head start on your exploration of the city or savouring your excursion energy for the following day.

Begin a whirlwind tour starting at Wat Sisaket, Vientiane’s oldest-surviving monastery featuring over one thousand statues of Buddha. Discover the history behind Hor Pha Keo, a former temple which was razed to the ground, not once but twice, by an invading ancient Thai army. Witness the glorious Pha That Luang, a national symbol of Laos represented on both the national seal and national currency. Marvel at the grand stupa covered gold leaf and surrounded by thirty smaller stupas. In addition, admire the impressive hand painted frescos that adorn the internal walls. Climb to the viewing platform of Patouxai, Vientiane’s very own arc de triumphe. The landmark presents a window into the French colonial history of the region. Embrace the local Lao cuisine as you enjoy in your complimentary lunch at a local restaurant.

After breakfast, utilise your last day in Laos before the guide picks you up and transfer you to the airport.

Optional: Half Day Buddha Park

Participate in a great tour discovering the weird, wonderful and quirky statues of Buddha Park just 25kms outside of Vientiane. The park is the folly of Luang Pu Bunleua Sulilat, a monk, shaman and mystic of Hinduism and Buddhism. Untrained in sculpture, Sulilat and his students created more than two-hundred cement statues filled with cryptic symbols of horror and fantasy. Watch out for the skeleton thin Buddhas, a giant pumpkin with a demon head, a gigantic forty-metre-long reclining Buddha, or a statue of Shiva waving his menacing eight arms of swords! Located on the fringes of the park are some food and drink shops, where you can pick up a picnic lunch to eat by the banks of the river before heading back to the hotel.
